The Veterans Health Administration provides healthcare for veterans across the country through the use of Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC), which are healthcare sites designed to focus on the primary care needs of veterans. These sites, separate from parent VA health facilities, are vital to the overall healthcare service for veterans, but often experience a lack of adequate staffing, resources, and effective processes to fully meet the veteran healthcare needs.
Veterans and their families rely on CBOCs to provide primary care, routine labs and screenings, pharmacy services, mental and physical health evaluations, and more. Fulfilling these basic health needs of our veterans is vital to the human mission, and is a logical extension of STGi's work to carry out the healthcare needs of many active-duty service members.
To accomplish such a mission, the VA depends on skilled partners—such as STGi—to help them provide and improve access to healthcare for those who have served the nation.
STGi rose to the challenge in 2010 when it was awarded a contract through the Department of Veterans Affairs to fully manage and operate an existing CBOC in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. STGi not only provided the staffing and management support to operate the CBOC, but also expanded the clinic’s hours and healthcare offerings. This partnership provided several advantages, such as telemedicine offerings, behavioral health specialists, and the benefit of STGi's proven track record of providing outstanding healthcare professionals and skilled facility management.
STGi was able to improve the quality of care at the clinic by providing exceptionally skilled clinicians and extending the clinics operating hours from three days per week to a much-needed five days. The extended hours eliminated the need to defer veterans to a waiting list for basic care. STGi's philosophy that quality care for our veterans is not optional, but essential, is what continues to drive the success of the CBOC.
With a thorough understanding of effective healthcare practices and a sense of accountability to our nation's veterans, STGi's successful presence and positive impact in the Scottsbluff CBOC is yet another example of STGi's commitment to “Sourcing the Human Mission”.
